Dr. Saimir Thano
Dr. Saimir Thano is a licensed clinical psychologist providing multiculturally-sensitive therapy for diverse individual adults, couples, and families. He has extensive experience with a wide range of psychological and psychosocial concerns including depression and anxiety, romantic relationship satisfaction, men’s issues, family and relationship conflicts, grief and loss, and life transitions. Dr. Thano emigrated from Albania to the United States during late adolescence. He completed his B.A. in Cognitive Psychology at University of California, Irvine follow by a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology-Aliant International University, Los Angeles. He is currently a full time Senior Staff Psychologist at UC-Irvine Counseling Center where he provides psychological services (individual, couple, family, and group therapy), outreach and consultation, and prevention/postvention services to the campus community and their stakeholders.
Dr. Thano’s previous clinical experiences include large university institutions such as California State University, Northridge and University of Southern California. He is actively involved within the American Psychological Association and currently serves as a board member for Division 43 (Society for Couple and Family Psychology). His professional engagements also include various leadership positions, consultations, teaching, training, supervision for graduate psychology students, and mentorship. In his free time Dr. Thano enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends, exploring new hiking trails, stand-up comedy, and movies.
